Emily Rodda

Rowan from Rin and the Deltora Quest series are both written by Emily Rodda, which I read and enjoyed while I waited for J.K. Rowling to publish her Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Emily Rodda is a pseudonym of Jennifer Rowe’s and another pseudonym she has is Mary-Anne Dickinson.

As she publishes children’s books under her pseudonyms and uses her own name for her writing for adults as she also writes crime stories.

The Glimme

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second book in this series that J.K. Rowling had written, and Harry is feeling miserable.

As even though it’s his birthday which the Dursleys are ignoring as Uncle Vernon is putting on a dinner party: and that his friends who are Ron and Hermione had said to him that they will write to him over the holidays, Harry thinks that he hasn’t received any letters. However, Dudley had just remembered that it was Harry’s birthday. He was also taunting Harry about not having any friends, and so Harry retaliated, by pretending to do magic.

This made Dudley turn and run to the house, as Dudley tells his Mum and the whole street that Harry is doing you know what!

Aunt Petunia then punishes Harry for scaring Dudley by giving Harry chores to do around the house.

Then before the Dursleys, guests arrive Harry is then given something else to eat which wasn’t what the Dursleys and their guests were eating. Uncle Vernon also let Harry know that their dinner guests don’t know anything about him. This is also why Harry’s aunt and uncle expected Harry to stay in his room, and the Dursleys also wanted him to make no noise while they were entertaining their two guests.

Though when Harry got to his bedroom, he met Dobby who is a house elf.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

This is the first story that J K Rowling wrote, where she introduces us and Harry to the magical world, as Albus Dumbledore took Harry from Hagrid.

Dumbledore then left Harry on Harry’s Aunt’s and Uncle’s front doorstep at Privet Drive. He also left a letter with Harry for his Aunt Petunia. Professor McGonagal was the only one that questioned Dumbledore’s, decision. Though Dumbledore told McGonagall that the Dursley’s are the only family that Harry has. Stephen Fry also does a great job as the narrator of these books.
