The Ambassador’s Mission is the first book in another series of books that Trudi Canavan wrote which is known as the Traitor Spy trilogy, and this story begins twenty years after the death of High Lord Akkarin.
As his son Lorkin is now twenty years old, and Sonea who is Lorkin’s Mother is working as a healer in the hospice. Though she is also still a black magician too. As since Akkarin’s death the guild has been working on either changing or revising their laws.
Lord Rothien tried to encourage Sonea that she should start to express her views which was something that she had avoided doing for twenty years.
Rothien also tells Sonea that Lord Regin, who he knows in their past had bullied her has matured quite a bit and as the story unfolds, she sees this change in Regin.
Sonea had a head full of worries in this book.
As her friend Cery alerts Sonea and the guild that there is a rouge magician that is targeting not only the thieves but the families of thieves.
Sonea and the guild also enlist Cery’s and his gang help in finding this rouge. Meanwhile her son Lorkin is bored. However, after he calls out to Dannil they then got talking about Dannil’s research. Lorkin then goes to Dannil’s place, to see the great vast of information that Dannil has compiled and decides to become Dannil’s assistant.
Though this will mean that they will be going to Satcheta. Also, when Rothien tells Sonea about it she isn’t happy.
As she knows that going there that Lorkin will be in great danger if it was discovered that he is Akkarin’s son. However, although she had tried, she could not talk her son out of it and so before he left, she gave him a blood gem.
Dannil also received one from the guild’s other black magician.
Then Lorkin disappeared, and Dannil didn’t let the guild know about it until three days later. As realizing how Sonea would react Dannil was determined to find Lorkin.
