The Rouge

The Rouge is the second book in the Traitor Spy Trilogy that Trudi Canavan wrote, and in this book Lorkin is trying to find out how he can use his healing powers. However, there is a woman that works in the ward that doesn’t seem to approve. He also seemed fascinated at seeing some gemstones that were in a cave and had talked one of the men into taking him there so that he can explore. As Lorkin wants to learn more about the magic that the people that live in the sanctuary use.

Also, at first, Lorkin wasn’t allowed to see the young lady he fancies, after her trial however, he ends up finding a way, and Lorkin seems to have the queen’s approval.

He had also found out what his father had promised but had failed to deliver and Lorkin pointed out that his Father had promised them something that he wasn’t able to do, and Lorkin wanted to help them establish a way that they can learn to heal their sick, but they also didn’t want people know where they could find them.

Meanwhile, Lorkin’s Mother is still busy doing what she can to find rouge magicians, and the guild discovered that two female novices had found a book on black magic, and one of them had succeeded in teaching herself how to use black magic.

Though even though Lillia had blood on her hands when she was questioned about how a person died. As her friend that she loved found her father, dead and she had told the higher magicians that Lillia had done it. However, as Lillia was intoxicated at the time, she doesn’t remember that she had killed this person.

Then as Lorkin has talked Dannil out of continuing to search for him, as the traitors wanted to keep the location of their sanctuary a secret. Dannil then agreed and he went back to his research and as he discovered a book that was written before the Satchacan War he finds out about a gem that is called The Source Stone.

Dannil also found out that a magician that had The Source Stone had lost control of it and that this accident had created The Waste Land.

The Ambassador’s Mission

The Ambassador’s Mission is the first book in another series of books that Trudi Canavan wrote which is known as the Traitor Spy trilogy, and this story begins twenty years after the death of High Lord Akkarin.

As his son Lorkin is now twenty years old, and Sonea who is Lorkin’s Mother is working as a healer in the hospice. Though she is also still a black magician too. As since Akkarin’s death the guild has been working on either changing or revising their laws.

Lord Rothien tried to encourage Sonea that she should start to express her views which was something that she had avoided doing for twenty years.

Rothien also tells Sonea that Lord Regin, who he knows in their past had bullied her has matured quite a bit and as the story unfolds, she sees this change in Regin.

Sonea had a head full of worries in this book.

As her friend Cery alerts Sonea and the guild that there is a rouge magician that is targeting not only the thieves but the families of thieves.

Sonea and the guild also enlist Cery’s and his gang help in finding this rouge. Meanwhile her son Lorkin is bored. However, after he calls out to Dannil they then got talking about Dannil’s research. Lorkin then goes to Dannil’s place, to see the great vast of information that Dannil has compiled and decides to become Dannil’s assistant.

Though this will mean that they will be going to Satcheta. Also, when Rothien tells Sonea about it she isn’t happy.

As she knows that going there that Lorkin will be in great danger if it was discovered that he is Akkarin’s son. However, although she had tried, she could not talk her son out of it and so before he left, she gave him a blood gem.

Dannil also received one from the guild’s other black magician.

Then Lorkin disappeared, and Dannil didn’t let the guild know about it until three days later. As realizing how Sonea would react Dannil was determined to find Lorkin.

The High Lord

The High Lord is the third book in The Black Magician Trilogy that Trudi Canavan wrote and as the High Lord Akkarin has lent Sonea books on black magic so that she could understand the things that the High Lord had told her better it made her come to a decision.

So, she approached Akkarin at one of their, dinners and told him that she wanted to help and that she was willing to learn black magic.

As she knew from what Akkarin had told her that there will be an invasion. Sonea also discovered that Akkarin has been killing spies with black magic.

Then later on in this story Akkarin told Sonea that as he was traveling the world so that he could write a book he became a slave. He also told Sonea that he was taught how to use black magic so that he could kill his master, and he then went back to the guild and took over the position as High Lord.

However, while Akkarin and Sonea was fighting a spy. As Akkarin had allowed Sonea to be there so that she could learn. As he had taught her how to do some black magic like how to make a blood gem etc… they later found out that the high lord was set up.

As Akkarin’s old friend and other authority figures had gone to the high lord’s residence after speaking about the murders. As they thought that Akkarin could have murdered a magician and the magician’s family and servants going by the evidence that they had.

However, neither Akkarin or Sonea was there so they did a search and found some books on black magic in Sonea’s room, and this led to their arrest. They then had to appear at a trial where Akkarin tried telling them the truth. Then Akkarin and Sonea were both publicly exiled although Sonea was only exiled as she defied the King.
