The locals in this story say that Storm Boy’s Dad moved to ninety-mile beach with his son, when his boy’s Mum had died, and some, people were horrified. As they thought that living on a beach wasn’t good for a child, but Storm Boy and his Dad, were happy.
They also got their names from the locals and their nearest neighbour was their friend called Fingerbone who lived in a place, that’s called a humpy.
One day, Fingerbone showed Storm Boy three orphaned pelican chicks and Storm Boy decided that he would look after them. Storm Boy also gave them names too, but Mr Percival was his favourite,
Though, when the three pelicans were old enough to be looking after themselves, Storm Boy’s Dad told him that they will have to go: and although he did what he was told and let them go Mr Percival was the only one that had returned.
